Traveling near Eustis and Curtis, one sees some of the most beautiful scenery in Nebraska. January 30, 2008, I traveled to Wallace, NE. I took this picture on Highway 23 on my way to Curtis.

North Platte Public Library

North Platte Public Library is getting ready for its Grand Re-opening. They have done extensive remodeling, moved and weeded thousands of books and are excited to show off the new look. On February 14th, they will have tours, talks, prizes and other fun things to do. Think about traveling to North Platte on Valentines Day.

Celebrating Public Libraries

This is Harvard Public Library in Harvard, NE. It is one of the old Carnegie buildings which is lovely to look at, but not always easy to navigate when carrying heavy loads. Jaime Porter is the Library Director.

Are you thinking about your library automation? Do you have questions about changing to another system or learning more about your system? Come to Seward Memorial Library on January 25th. Vendors represented are Biblionix, Polaris, Follett, 3M and ONELibrary Consortium. It costs 10.00 for lunch. I am sure it will be a great day. Library Legislative Day

Library Legislative Day is February 12th. Plan to come and lunch with a Senator from Nebraska. The afternoon speaker is going to be former State Senator, Dave Landis. It will be a fun day and a great way to promote libraries in the state. To register, here is the link: http://www.selsne.org/LegDay08.pdf

Welcome to our new website

Republican Valley Library System has entered the 2.0 Library world. We have a new and improved website. We hope you will find it much easier to use. A big, big thank you goes to Michael Sauers for updating the website and to the Nebraska Library Commission for allowing him to do the update. Michael pushed me way out of my comfort zone, but I am thrilled with the results.

The Gates Foundation is offering a series of workshops across Nebraska this winter. It is an all day meeting, it costs nothing,....and you get lunch. Think about attending. Sally Snyder is the key presenter. February 7 is North Platte and February 8th is Grand Island. New Year's Resolution

I guess my New Year's Resolution is to post to this blog, because Michael says I need to before our new website is up and running....so I am going to try. Today I am going out to look for a new camera as I want to keep adding pictures, and then there is Flickr and del.icio.us and....I may never leave my desk!
